Relax and enjoy a sum­mer evening trav­el­ling along Summerland’s pic­turesque Bot­tle­neck Dri­ve dur­ing a guid­ed three-course pro­gres­sive din­ner and tast­ing event, Fri­day July 7 from 4 – 9 p.m. A knowl­edge­able guide will pick you up from the Rama­da Inn, Pen­tic­ton Lake­side Resort or Sum­mer­land Water­front Resort and take you to Summerland’s Sumac Ridge Estate Win­ery for a sparkling recep­tion and appe­tiz­ers. A casu­al bar­beque-style main course fol­lows at Evolve Cel­lars look­ing out over stun­ning vine­yards and Okana­gan Lake. It doesn’t get bet­ter than this view! From here you will trav­el to Sax­on Estate Win­ery, set in pas­toral Prairie Val­ley, for a selec­tion of local­ly made sweet treats to cap the evening. Craft beer lovers will be excit­ed to hear that Bot­tle­neck Dri­ve now includes a micro­brew­ery. Det­o­nate Brew­ing opened this win­ter in Summerland’s indus­tri­al area. Their sig­na­ture Cit­ra Sta­tion Pale Ale and oth­er beers are on tap wait­ing for your growler or grunt. Try a flight of beer to taste them all. There are usu­al­ly between four to eight types of beer on tap, and brew­er Nathan Rosin hopes to have even more in the future. Unique event pairs wine and food with his­toric KVR train expe­ri­ence The mem­bers of Bot­tle­neck Dri­ve present a tast­ing expe­ri­ence on-board the ele­gant­ly restored Ket­tle Val­ley steam train, show­cas­ing deli­cious offer­ings from local winer­ies along­side the nat­ur­al beau­ty of Sum­mer­land. The Grand Som­me­li­er Express returns for a sec­ond year on June 24, 2017. “We are excit­ed to part­ner with the his­toric Ket­tle Val­ley Steam Rail­way again this year to bring guests an expe­ri­ence that is absolute­ly unique to Bot­tle­neck Dri­ve,” says Bot­tle­neck Dri­ve Pres­i­dent Christa-Lee McWat­ters Bond. “Deli­cious wine, food, ciders and beer, Sum­mer­land scenery, and the beau­ti­ful steam train com­bine for an event you will not find any­where else.” Fol­low­ing a sparkling recep­tion, guests will enjoy the scenic 90-minute train ride with wine poured by infor­ma­tive pro­pri­etors and wine­mak­ers. A very warm wel­come to NOMAD Cider, one of our newest mem­bers and a great addi­tion to Bot­tle­neck Drive’s grow­ing num­ber of tra­di­tion­al cideries. Pro­pri­etors and cider-mak­ers Mike Petkau and Brad Klam­mer say “We’re stoked to be part of the Bot­tle­neck Dri­ve team and are look­ing for­ward to open­ing the doors of our tast­ing room this spring!”  NOMAD is cur­rent­ly pro­duc­ing dry apple and pear ciders that pay homage to var­i­ous world famous cider regions. NOMAD’s prod­ucts are avail­able for sale at var­i­ous pri­vate liquor stores, restau­rants and pubs – see a full list on their web­site. Their tast­ing room is expect­ed to open in late April or ear­ly May. Until then, tast­ings are avail­able by appoint­ment. A warm wel­come our newest mem­ber win­ery, Savard Vines. Watch for details regard­ing their new tast­ing room, open­ing this spring, locat­ed just off the high­way north of Sum­mer­land. Can’t wait for spring? Vis­it their web site for cur­rent sales and con­tact info. “Final­ly, after months of hard work, we are thrilled to announce that soon Savard Vines will be open for vis­i­tors. It is our plan to open our Tast­ing Room select spring week­ends start­ing in March before set­tling into our rou­tine sum­mer­time hours,” say pro­pri­etors Michael and Lori Savard. Their beau­ti­ful prop­er­ty includes stun­ning lake views and is plant­ed with approx­i­mate­ly five acres of pinot gris and pinot noir, with some cab franc. “We are excit­ed to be mem­bers of Summerland’s Bot­tle­neck Dri­ve and look for­ward to get­ting to know every­one,” they say....
